Our Next Project

Now that we have officially made our first quilt, another is officially underway! While the quilt is our biggest project at the present, we are also working on small projects such as scarves, hats, etc. We will probably begin selling those in autumn/wintertime so as to get the most possible sales. In the meantime, we will just slowly but surely knit squares for the next quilt. If you want to help even though you can’t knit/crochet, there are many other fundraising ideas that include:
-Bake sales
-Garage sales
-Lawn work
-Car washes
There are many other ideas, and those are just a few. Last year, a group of six girls held a garage sale at their home and raised over 700$ for Feeding the Orphans. Often times the most we can do to support organizations like Feeding the Orphans are right under our noses! And if you don’t make 1,000$, it’s okay! Every bit counts. We will keep you posted of upcoming events, and, until then, so long!

The Night It Came Together

None of us will ever forget the night when we put our first quilt together. It was a beautiful evening when us few girls gathered together that night to sew the work of our hands together. We hummed to our favorite tunes and laughed hysterically at Tim Hawkins and chatted about recent happenings in that homey living room while knitting and sewing the squares together. All the while, the rich and warm smell of freshly-baked brownies wafted through the air. We talked and sang ourselves silly and told hilarious stories of when we were younger. While I didn’t make it to the end, I have no doubt that when they finished, a wonderful feeling became of them. The Sunday we gave the quilt to the founders of Feeding the Orphans was wonderful, too. I’m sure that they weren’t half as proud and happy as we were when we presented the masterpiece to them. Even after a few weeks, wondering thoughts loom around us. We have no idea what the quilt’s money will be used for, but our imaginations are limitless. The future is full of mystery–and excitement.

Photos of the finished quilt will be posted shortly!

Our very first quilt!

After months of poking our fingers, our very first quilt has been made! We have given it to the leaders of Feeding the Orphans, who will, in turn, sell it and give all the proceeds to Feeding the Orphans! We girls have no idea what the money will be used for, but we know that God can multiply it’s uses! I’ll never forget the night we all strung it together, humming cheery tunes, wondering what incredible purposes this quilt will serve. Although it took a while, and we had our share of stress, I assure you that everyone knows it was all worth it. We’re just trying to be God’s handiwork; who knows where we’ll go next? What a wonderful thing it is to be useful!
